Emma Galloway: My Darling Lemon Thyme

“Eating seasonally was a way of life, not just a catch phrase.”

Emma’s food philosophy is that “natural whole food should also be flavoursome, fun and easy to prepare”.  Growing up in what was seen then as an alternative lifestyle, she believes that we should still be eating food that our grandparents would recognise.

My Darling Lemon Thyme

Throughout My Darling Lemon Thyme there is a focus on making dishes from scratch using seasonal fresh produce prepared with a minimum of fuss. While the recipes reflect her upbringing in a vegetarian household, and the recipes are perfect for those with food intolerances the book is aimed at people who want to enjoy real unadulterated food.

With a simple aesthetic, Emma’s food photographs are symbolic of the dishes themselves – they look nourishing and delicious, as if you were about to serve them to your family. Lifestyle images epitomise her fun, family and outdoorsy lifestyle.

Chapter descriptions collate the recipes to reflect her food story from ‘Rise + Shine’ to ‘Sweet Tooth’, ‘Drinks + Frozen Goodness’ and end with ‘Etc’.  The introduction to each recipe beautifully melds her upbringing and family life with real food recipes.

With Emma and her family returning to live in Raglan, Waikato here’s hoping that there is a whole food cafe or store on the horizon.
